Car Washing Saturday

This last weekend was SUPER HOT outside; however that didn't stop Bob from getting out there to wash the vehicles! Both needed baths badly so he went out early and took Riley with so I could get a few things done around the house. And let me tell you, even 30 minutes without a little kid at your heels is amazing as far as getting stuff done goes!

So I stayed inside while the van was washed and cleaned up from the pancakes I made and then I did laundry and cleaned a bathroom. Yay!

Afterwards I went outside and took a few shots of Riley and Bob having fun. When I walked outside, my camera immediately fogged up from the heat so the first couple of pictures are a bit hazy from the fog on the camera lense.

Riley was busy wearing a cone on her head and was walking around singing, "Happy Birthday to You!"
She then insisted that daddy wear one also. So Bob was a good sport and put one on his head and Riley serenaded him!
This is Riley giving me one to wear :-) That little birthday period we went through of so many birthdays must have really impacted her in a fun way!
It was BLAZING outside. Bob was pretty much soaked from sweat and water. But he's still my lil cutie :-)

Here he is squeeging his car after the bath.
Riley just followed him around :-)
More birthday singing

Bob said he was "deliriously heat fried" here.
Next it was time to wash Riley's car! Riley actually asked Bob to wash her car, which I thought was ADORABLE. I had to go inside for a couple of minutes to do something so didn't get the actual car washing pictures. Riley LOVED that daddy washed her car too :-)
Here he is squeeging it off.
Then it was time to take it for a spin to show off her new shiny ride :-)
Bob put the foot board back in it because Riley prefers to ride in it that way. Here they are rounding the corner. She just likes the ride...not doing any of the work with her feet :-)

Next it was time to walk the stroller around in the bubbles and water.
Bob is hosing off his feet here while Riley kept passing back and forth through the bubbles on the ground :-)
The last picture is of her going to the door and teasing the life out of poor Elmo who was stuck inside. It was just TOO HOT for Elmo that day and neither Bob nor I wanted to deal with a wet dog. So we opened the front door so he could lie in the sun. When Riley figured this out though, she decided to visit him and this drove him insane :-) He was barking as if to say, "Open the door sista!"
Another fun Saturday morning with daddy!

Silky and Satin Stylin Sleepwear :-)

So Riley has this really cute little nightgown that a friend got her for her bday and I haven't actually had her sleep in it yet (cause she is sometimes inclined to take off her diaper) but that morning she was pretty soaked when she woke up and soaked through her pajamas, so I put this nightgown on her for a few hours. She looked so grown up to me so I snapped a few pics :-)

This first shot is the only one I could actually get of her entire gown (cause afterwards she planted herself in one spot and didn't stand again) but unfortunately it's also the one where she is pouting about something. Oh well, you will still get to see the basic jist of the gown :-)

I have no idea what this face is!
Her hair is getting so long!
Standing again :-) And completely smitten with Dora!
Very concentrated :-)
My little cutie is growing up so fast!

Riley's 2 Year Checkup....and ice pops :-)

Greetings everyone! I know I'm kind of hit or miss with my blogging sometimes but I am trying to be better about not going for huge, long periods of time without some pics of Miss Riley-Roo! :-)

Today was her 2 year doctor's appointment and yes, it was a tad bit late. I have NEVER missed an appointment before and would you believe, I completely forgot about her 2 year appointment the month of her bday? It slipped right by! Later when I called to reschedule they told me my FAVORITE doctor was on vacation and that when he returned, he was booked solid for months! So I was scheduled with the other doctor who is just "okay" in my book. Her first available appointment was today so a little over a month after Riley turned 2.

I asked if waiting beyond the time she turned 2 was bad and they said that it wasn't at all bad! Basically the receptionist said, "As long as it's before her 3rd bday, you're good." So whew!

Riley hadn't actually been to the doctors in forever it seemed so when we went today, she was a little wary at first. It wasn't long though before the tears starting coming and the whaling began.

The first thing they asked her to do was step on a scale and she started SCREAMING! I think she thought the scale was going to jump up and bite her in the butt or something, ha-ha :-) Next she had to stand against a wall and get her height measurement. Again, she flipped out when the plastic piece came down on her head. Yeesh. Her weight right now is 28 pounds and her height is 36 1/4 inches. Tall girl! She is in the 97th percentile for height and the 75th percentile for weight. Most of her weight is attributed to her height though cause Riley is definitely one skinny minny. I was always called a "string bean" or "bean pole" growing up too so she'll just take after her momma! And from the pictures I've seen, her daddy too :-)

Next we went into the waiting room and the nurse asked me a series of questions. I laughed at the first one. It was, "Can your daughter put 2 words together at a time when speaking?" I was like, "Um, she is using whole sentences?" Riley should also know about "50 words" according to the nurse and I think she probably knows quadruple that amount!!

The doctor came in next and she then calculated Riley's adult height when she is grown. She asked for my height plus Bob's height and then she used Riley's height to determine how tall Riley will be in the future. I said Bob was 6'3 and I am 6'1. So then she determined that Riley will be JUUUUUST under 6 feet tall. Not too tall and not too short either :-) JUUUUST right :-)

After that the screaming began again as the doctor had to lie Riley down on the table and examine her eyes, ears, nose, stomach, etc. She also looked in Riley's mouth and said that Riley has 16 teeth and sometime during this 2nd year, her 2-year molars will come in. Dr. Elias said that there were no signs that she was getting them at this time but to be aware of that. She also said to be sure I was brushing her teeth each morning and evening and that when Riley turns 3, she needs to go for her first dentist visit. Wow! THAT will be an adventure!!

Dr. Elias also noticed some wear on Riley's upper teeth and gumlines from her sucking her thumb but she said there really wasn't much I could do for that now. By 3, hopefully she will be done with that and if not, the dentist will most likely have some helpful tips to resolve the thumb sucking!

We discussed potty training briefly and jointly decided that Riley wasn't ready yet for that. She is starting to show the signs but definitely isn't there yet. For now, the best way to get her comfortable around her potty is to have her sit on it while I'm sitting on mine and let her read some books. So basically, reading books together while I'm in there and she's in there should help. We shall see! Right now she doesn't want to have ANYTHING to do with her little potty!

Oh yes, and the only other thing of note is that we can now change her from whole milk to 2 percent milk if we want. I don't really see that it's a big deal either way but the doctor wanted to let me know it's fine now.

The last fun part was getting the 2nd part of Riley's Hepatitis A vaccine...yay (note sarcasm). It was awful and WOW did she cry. I was all too happy to run out of there and so was Riley. When the nurse tried to give her a sticker, she took it (while screaming) and threw it on the ground. Yep, she was done.

So we left and I truly hope we don't have to see the inside of that place for quite some time! Oh yeah...guess for her flu shot if we follow the doctor's orders and come back in September for that.

Anyways, I thought I would post a few pictures from this afternoon after she woke up from only sleeping about 45 minutes! (I had gone to the gym at 5:30 this morning so was definitely a bit sad that she was up so early). We raided the freezer and got some ice pops and went out back to enjoy them :-)

Riley started with grape cause this was the one she picked from the freezer.
She was saying, "Cold...cold."
Then I opened my red one and she said, "Mommy,....red one....red one." So then I took her grape one and she took my red one.
Definitely a good idea to eat these outside with all the dripage that occurs!
I love the cold squinty faces she makes :-)
Taking little mini bites
YUMMY
She decided it was more fun to take the ice pop out of the wrapper and hold it. She had taken SUCH an enormous bite though that she couldn't get it all in her mouth. So she was kind of frozen in place watching Elmo while chewing the ice in her mouth :-)

Here she was telling me that her mouth was "cold mommy........cold."
I asked her to show me her mouth after she was done and here she is going, "Aaaaaah."
Nothing like some yummy ice pops on a hot summer day! :-)

Bike Ride!

I LOVE taking bike rides and I love it even more when I have a little chatter box behind me singing and pointing out, "Mommy birdie!" "Mommy squirrel!" "Mommy duck!...quack!...quack!...quack!" It's hillarious and makes me laugh. The only difficult part I have is when she wants me to sing along WITH her and I'm huffing and puffing trying to get us down the road. "Twinkle twinkle Little Star" doesn't quite sound right when mommy is biking, ha-ha :-)

I went around the cul de sac first so I could get a feel for the bike. Bob switched Riley's seat to this bike and it has a bit of a different feel riding it.
You can barely see her little head peeking over the edge of the seat :-)
And we're off!

Mommy's Little Helper :-)

We've had quite a few house guests lately and I needed to do some serious cleaning; however any time I use the Clorox cleanup, I feel like it totally absorbs into my hands and I can't ever wash it off! Soap never takes it off and my hands smell like bleach for hours afterwards.

I then decided I needed some cleaning gloves for a change, so Riley and I went to Walmart and I found these really cute ones :-) She pranced around the house in them for an hour and had a ball clapping her hands together. Of course, I didn't start the cleaning until AFTER she went down for a nap, but I let her think that she was helping me. I gave her a Clorox wipe while she was wearing the gloves and she "wipey-ed up" a spot on the floor in the kitchen. Here she is modeling the gloves :-)

A Weekend at the Pool :-)

This past weekend we took advantage of the gorgeous sunny day to hit up the pool! Riley LOVES to swim now so it was fun being able to watch her put her skills into practice.

Here are Bob and Riley getting ready to enter the pool. Notice Riley is rockin her pink shades :-)
Walking in :-) I love this photo for some reason. So cute holding her big daddy's hand.
Testing the water :-)
She brought Dora with her and was letting Dora "swim"
Daddy was the official toy holder :-)
Riley had just swam a few times to Bob and I and did great!
Enjoying relaxing on her daddy :-)
Time for some juice. She very quickly figured out that the ground is BLAZING HOT so she stood on this blue mat and danced around it the entire time. I don't think she can stand still for like, 5 seconds anymore!
Analyzing her toes on the blue mat :-)
Yum...Gatorade :-)
Look how LONG her torso is now! Everyone that meets Riley thinks she's at LEAST 3 or older. For this reason I'm glad she can carry on a small conversation now and acts a bit older for her age I think :-)
She had just run back to me and said, "Thank you mommy!" and handed me her juice. Now she was bolting for the pool cause she didn't want to be out of the water for long.
Riley and I in the water :-)
Drinking some Gatorade myself!
Hangin out on the side of the pool :-)
Overall a fun weekend and a great day at the pool. SO GLAD we have this cause with the incredible heat, this is definitely one of the best options in the summertime :-) Have a great week everybody!
